Our 'Mums & Tots' and 'Time out for You' provide a fabulous haven for many mothers with small children, but there is so much more than could be done from one Tuesday to the next.

There are around 1.9 million single parent families in the UK.
July – September 2008 36% of births in Antrim were outside marriage

 

- Could you regularly help a single mum struggling with small children with her
shopping?
- Could you help a mum with a sick or special needs child with housework?
- Would you be willing to drive a young family to hospital for appointments?

4981 children in Northern Ireland were suspended from school during 2007 1. The highest rate was for North Eastern Education and Library Board at 1380 young people.


- Would you be willing to attend a short evening course at Union Theological
college to learn how to listen to the parents of these young people
empathetically?

1 in 3 marriages end in divorce.

- would you be willing to help organise marriage enrichment classes for our local community that are based on biblical principles?
- would you be interested in taking a course in counselling so that you could be a help to support struggling couples?
- Would you be willing to join a 'think tank' to look at how we can strengthen the
marriages within our congregation and offer support to families in the community?'

It has become acceptable practice not to marry or to respect the role that marriage plays as a building block in our society.  We as the people of God, living by Biblical principles, can and must take the initiative to protect the family by strengthening our own marriages and reaching out to assist others.

- Would you have the skills to help run a course in basic financial planning for newly married couples or struggling families?
- Antrim CAB is massively oversubscribed.  Would you be able to pledge a few hours each month towards helping people fill in forms for income support and benefits?
